Chopped

Science teacher Cathy Ramos’ homeroom took first place in the first Homeroom Olympics event of the year, Chopped, and was awarded 500 points. Homeroom of drama teachers Stephanie Siers and Michelle Trester got second place and received 400 points. PALS homeroom took third place, and won 300 points. In fourth place was Kerri Leonard’s homeroom which received 250 points.
All other 34 teams were awarded 200 points each for participation.
Chopped took place today in front of the Performing Arts Center. Pairs of students from 38 homerooms competed to make the most visually appealing dish from five different ingredients provided, and one secret ingredient of their own.
The ingredients provided to them consisted of Cheetos, black olives, pink wafers, peanut butter, and knock-off spam. Students brought along secret ingredients that ranged from Tabasco sauce to sprinkles to bananas, but weren’t able to use their own because each homeroom had to pass theirs to the right. Once it began, each team had eight minutes to construct their masterpiece.
In order to receive additional points, teachers had the option to taste their homeroom’s creation.
