“American Horror Story:” Season Six Episode Seven

November 3, 2016

Murder, blood and gore go hand in hand with “American Horror Story” and this episode did not disappoint. We already knew beforehand that there will only be one survivor by the end of the three nights in the house, and already the numbers are dwindling. With episodes like these you have to wonder how much money the producers have to spend on fake blood, because you could fill a swimming pool with all the blood that came out of these dead corpses.

Sidney, the TV producer in this show that everybody loves to hate, gets his comeuppance. Within 10 minutes, his body was already getting cold and that’s only the beginning. When it was said that only one person survives, it meant only one person— even TV camera men are not spared.
This isn’t the first season with a sympathetic villain and Agnes’s (the actor who played the Butcher) descent into madness is one of the saddest things to witness. Just last episode she was a little nice lady who liked to act, she went from harmless angry yelling at Sidney to full blown murder. Its jarring to see how abruptly her personality changes. She goes from slicing up Shelby to crying, “I just wanted to be on the show” in the cellar. She’s both terrifying and pitiful; it’s the strangest combination.

Back to the people in the house, the residents are dealing with Rory’s sudden disappearance (none of the actors believe that he’s dead) and Shelby bleeding all over the place from her encounter with Agnes.

In one of the stupidest ideas ever they decide to split up, Lee, Audrey (who plays Shelby) and Monet (who plays Lee) go into the woods looking for Sidney and some medical help (good luck with that). It’s not long before they find Sidney and his assistants dead bodies. Audrey being the British pansy that she is, can’t stop blubbering. It doesn’t help either when Rory’s mangled bloody corpse appears hanging in a tree above her- she’s a mess. We also can’t forget about the hillbillies. It turns out, in the time after “My Roanoke Nightmare” aired and the beginning of the special “Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell,” the hillbillies started making bank on growing weed. Still they couldn’t satiate their taste for human jerky, so they kidnap Lee, Audrey and Monet. We watch as the hillbillies marinate Lee’s still attached leg and then cut it off, In an even more horrifying scene, we watch as Audrey and Monet are forced to eat the leg jerky. Yum.

Meanwhile Matt and Dominic (the actor who played Matt) are taking care of Shelby, but things are tense and we learn that Sidney hired Dominic to play the bad guy and purposefully create drama. Too bad Sidney’s dead and Dominic will probably spend his last days acting like an asshole.

Later, in the darkness of the night, they’re all sleeping cozy in their beds, except Matt. The real reason Matt agreed to return to this show was to reunite with Scathach (remember? The the woods demon who likes having sex with Matt?). It turns out Matt liked having sex with her too. Pumped full of adrenaline and betrayal Shelby catches them in the act (again) and she bludgeons Matt to death. His brains were everywhere. In the aftermath of this bloody event, it’s still the blood moon and the Butcher (not Agnes) is out for blood.

Agnes, still in character, is in front of the house when the horde of Roanoke colonists appear ready to kill. While fans everywhere were crossing their fingers for Jessica Lange to appear as the real-life Butcher, we were only greeted by Agnes getting her head chopped down the middle by a woman who was definitely not Jessica Lange. Its truly fitting though that Agnes, who was basically the Butcher’s number one fan girl, was killed by the hand of the character that she loved and portrayed so well.

The fate of the rest of the cast is yet to be known but start mourning your favorite characters and placing bets. Tune in next Wednesday at 10 p.m. to see how these people will die and what revenge Scathach has in store.
