“Fear the Walking Dead:” Episode 213 “Date of Death”

October 1, 2016

Many questions were answered in this week’s episode of “Fear the Walking Dead.” As the episode switches between past and present, we find out what happened between Travis and Chris back at the farm.

At the beginning of the episode, the group deals with the aftermath of Madison lighting up the hotel, as dozens of people show up to the gates, trying to get in. The group inside the hotel walls is hesitant to let people in because resources are limited. However, when Travis shows his face among the crowd, they immediately let him in, and in a touching reconciliation between husband and wife, Travis and Madison share a passionate embrace after being separated for weeks.

Travis then proceeds to tell Madison about what happened with Chris, and why he is no longer with him. In a series of flashbacks, we learn that Chris and Travis met up with a group of three young men, close to Chris’s age, who were surviving on their own. They join forces and camp out for a few days at a farm they found, far away from any civilization. The farm has chickens and many other things necessary to survive, and Travis recommends that the group stay there for a while, and make it a home. However, the young men yearn to leave and find something else and Chris begins to side with them. In an intense falling out, Chris turns against Travis and leaves with his new friends, while Travis remaining at the farm alone. The scene was incredibly emotional, and you could feel the sadness and remorse that Travis felt.

By the end of the episode, Travis and Madison reconcile and get back on the same page. They discuss what happened when they had split up earlier and they begin to understand their responsibilities as parents.

Be sure to tune into AMC next Sunday at 9 p.m. to see what happens next as this thrilling narrative unfolds.
