Parents and Students Warned After Student Assaulted Near SDA

A senior female student at SDA was approached by two men in a white truck who attempted to pull her into their vehicle at 11:55 today, according to an email distributed by the SDA administration to parents and staff. The student was walking near Melba and Arcadia during the last few minutes of lunch when she was approached, according to the email. Reportedly she kicked and hit the men, who then let her go. She ran away and they did not follow her.

The student reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Department, which has dispatched cars to San Dieguito Academy, Oak Crest Middle School, Diegueño Middle School, and Sunset High School today, Principal Bjorn Paige said. The cars were sent out at 2:15 and will be monitoring the schools as students are released from class, he said.

No after-school activities will be curtailed due to the incident, though the email sent to students and parents informing them about the incident urged students to “be watchful, to walk with others, and to report any suspicious activity to us and the police.”
