I’m Still Gaga for Lady Gaga

Story by Kira Elliott

I was actually really proud of Lady Gaga when she came to the VMAs dressed as a man. As I watched the video, I couldn’t help but notice all of the astonished faces. I wasn’t shocked. Lady Gaga isn’t your normal pop star, why should this shock everyone? She seemed to be having a lot of fun with this new character too, over acting the masculinity and dancing everywhere (including the top of the piano).  I also liked how she took her eccentric dressing a new direction – no more meat dresses, I see, and I notice she did not choose one of her other characters from the music video where this character was born – and to me dressing like a man showed her in a more relatable position. She wasn’t that crazy lady we all know in that moment – she was a person that had their love played with and not taken seriously. I am proud that she took that step into a different direction and I wonder where she will go from here.
