Alexander Wang’s spring 2011 ready to wear collection was filled to the max with wispy and airy designs. With the simplistic color palate of whites, creams, nudes, metallics and soft earth tones, Wang showcased spring’s most popular trends. Contrasting materials such as knits with white denim, and linens with silks, played into Wang’s overall runway theme. Subtle details such as multiple layers and draped silhouettes counteracted the model’s lack of makeup.
Although the 40 piece collection flowed effortlessly, pieces such as sporty zip ups and suede dresses added a diverse nature to the collection. Even though Wang’s designs included a simplistic color scheme, the details of them were impeccable. White draped jackets still managed to have an immense almost structured like nature to them while capturing the gossamer style of his walking art.
The shoes completed Wang’s outfits with the perfect touch of masculinity. Army inspired, lace-up, ankle boots towered down the runway, some with cut-out, peep toes. Overall this collection was yet another one of Wang’s multiple successes in the fashion industry.
