Betsey Johnson’s fall 2010 collection has shown to be a great comeback, featuring a new twist on her old classics. The collection included tons of ready to wear styles that everyone can consider to spice up their wardrobe. The show started off with an unexpected mix of military green and bright red pieces, all with various black patterns. She continued to blend unconventional but tasteful patterns and colors. Following this sequence was black and red stripes as well as lace and floral features, creative pop art, and bright colors. Past seasons trends such as exaggerated shoulders, ankle boots, and menswear were also showing up fairly often throughout the collection.
When asked about the collection, Betsey said she was inspired by her own work, and wanted to reflect her very impressive 45 years of creativity. This concept is seen through the entire collection, representing her true style and adding playful sparks of intuitive new designs.
Continuing with her classic influence, Betsey also featured some pop art designs on some of her outfits, including a minidress with Andy Warhol’s famous Marilyn Monroe painting repeated all over it. Some other recurring classic Betsey touches were featured, including small hints of animal prints, bright pink, and the contrast of either very short or floor length hemlines.
Betsey Johnson has proven that funky, timeless style can last for years and has shown the world time after time her quirky style can make a lasting mark. Making fabulous ready to wear, clothes with touches of individuality has made Betsey Johnson one of the most distinctive designers at New York fashion week.
