The San Diego Sheriff’s department has arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of picking up a 15-year-old girl on Friday, Sept. 24. The girl, an SDA sophomore, claimed she was abducted by three men and sexually assaulted over the course of an hour, and then returned to school. The following Monday the story was discovered to be a hoax.
The man, Jose Adrian Cano, 20, was picked up at his home in Vista, according to a sheriff’s department press release. After an investigation led by the sheriff’s department and the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, evidence was found to suggest Cano participated in other crimes with underage girls, the release said.
Cano was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 28, on suspicion of contacting a minor online with intent to commit a sex crime, lewd act with a 15-year-old, and unlawful intercourse with a minor, the press release said.
