Senior Meeting

The senior meeting Wednesday morning started off the same way as the class of 2016’s first freshman meeting at SDA: with a game of Simon Says. The majority of the senior class of 2016 attended a “mandatory” senior meeting today at 9 a.m. while juniors were taking the CAASPP test.

Even though the seniors were asked to attend school at the normal time, many seniors enjoyed a leisurely morning prior to the meeting, grabbing coffee and breakfast. ASB teacher Rod Keillor began the meeting by sharing news about dates of the senior slideshow, senior thank yous, grad night, prom, and other upcoming events for seniors.

Keillor was assisted by senior directors Hailey Reeves, Mari Harnish, and Reiko Inouye who talked more in depth about the senior slideshow, senior speeches at the farewell assembly, senior gear, and senior tiles. Art teacher Jeremy Wright spoke briefly about the tiles seniors will be creating in the next couple weeks.

Also, Principal Bjorn Paige spoke about reflecting on the seniors’ years at SDA and encouraging the seniors to consider respecting each other during the graduation ceremony. Last, SDA graduate Jeremy Poincenot, who spoke about becoming legally blind at the age of 19, also shared some wisdom about life in and beyond college.
