“The Next Day” by David Bowie Album Preview

It’s been ten years since the release of David Bowie’s last album. It’s been 6 years since the last time he performed live. But now, he’s back, unfortunately, however, not dressed in drag or doused in glitter. On Jan. 8, Bowie’s 66th birthday, he announced a new album, “The Next Day,” due out March 24. The album was created entirely in secret; Bowie had given no indication that anything was coming until this surprise announcement. Bowie fans are not hiding their excitement, or their anticipation. “The Next Day” is already a chart-topper thanks to millions of preorders.

To give fans a glimpse of what to expect, Bowie released the first single, “Where Are We Now?” While some aging stars have lost their significance and style after such a long break (The Beach Boys are just kind of sad and old now), Bowie has taken this time to come back better than ever. “Where Are We Now?” is reminiscent of the smash album “Heroes,” featuring the typical 80’s synth and screaming guitars. The lyrics reflect back to Bowie of the ‘70s: focused on his time in Germany and nostalgic for times past. If this song is any indication, Bowie fans are in for an album worth the ten years of radio silence.
