“Fear the Walking Dead” Review

The hyped premiere of AMC’s new spin-off show, “Fear The Walking Dead” had extremely high expectations due to the success of the original show; and fans generally enjoyed the first two episodes, which included being sent back to a time before the apocalypse began.
The creators took a slower approach to the pilot episode, and the show which is notorious for its blood and gore splattering the screen, was taken down a few notches for a less violent season opener. The slower-paced beginning showed fans how the zombie apocalypse dawned, something that the original show purposely left untouched.
With a completely fresh character roster, new dynamics will play a major role in how these unassuming people will survive the impending demise of humanity. Completely oblivious to the approaching apocalypse, the fans ironically know more than the characters, which adds to the intensity and fear.
Also unlike the original show, which follows a central character and his mission to survive, “Fear The Walking Dead” features a dysfunctional family at its core, which will be interesting to see how they can play off each other to create a more cohesive and connected story.
Set in bustling Los Angeles, a completely fresh and unique setting lays out an interesting contrast to the lush, woodland regions of the original show; and with the second installment in AMC’s new hit series the excitement and horror only escalated from its highly successful season opener.
In this second episode to “The Walking Dead” spin-off, the viewer starts to see the beginning of the end. Society starts to fall apart for our main characters’ home, Los Angeles, and chaos and violence begin to fill the streets as zombies begin to emerge.
Equipped with new-found knowledge of the impending apocalypse, the central family, the story’s focus, tries to band together to face whatever comes their way as a group. However, when things go wrong and they are split up, each half tries to wait until the onslaught of pandemonium that surrounds them dissipates. With the family separated, fans must wait until next week to find out if they will be able to reconnect amongst the craziness and anarchy that is unfolding around them.
With an end that left viewers waiting impatiently for next Sunday at 9:00 pm, AMC seems to have kicked off the start for another ultra-successful television drama.
