“Project Almanac” Preview

Time travel takes on a whole new meaning in upcoming movie, “Project Almanac,” and will introduce viewers to entirely new outlooks surrounding the idea of manipulating time.

Directed by Dean Israelite and starring Sofia Black D’Elia, Jonny Weston, and Amy Landecker, the film is set to premiere in theaters on Jan. 30. According to Movies.com, the movie is categorized as Sci-Fi/Fantasy, following the ever-growing trend of Sci-Fi movies targeted towards teens.

The movie starts when David Raskin (Jonny Weston) finds a video of one of his birthday parties when he was a kid. Upon watching it, he sees someone’s reflection in a mirror in the video. After blowing up the image, he and his friends are startled to see that the reflection is of David as a teenager, even though the video was taken when David was only 7.

One thing leads to another, and David and his friends find plans to build a time travel machine in his father’s old workshop. After building it and using it to go back in time, it seems as though new doors of opportunity have opened themselves to the group.

At first, David and his friends use the time machine to go back to fix mistakes and change little things. But as they become more comfortable with using it, the changes they make get bigger and bigger. From getting revenge to winning the lottery (by cheating), things quickly escalate out of hand.

The group learns that their time travel is causing ripple effects, as riots, plane crashes, and natural disasters become rampant. Then, as if things couldn’t get any worse, David’s friends start disappearing one by one.

“Project Almanac” will likely be a movie that appeals to multiple audiences. The film’s Sci-Fi genre will interest fans of past Sci-Fi movies, such as “The Maze Runner,” “Divergent,” and “The Hunger Games.” Its element of science and time manipulation will also attract people interested in physics and the way time works in the universe.

However, “Project Almanac” promises not to over-complicate the science, meaning that it will likely be a good movie for anyone just looking for a little thrill and suspense.
