Sean Kingston’s “Back 2 Life”

By Terren Brin, Staff Writer

On Sept. 10, Kisean Anderson, better known by his stage name Sean Kingston, released his album Back 2 Life after exactly four years without a studio album. Kingston seems to have parted from his original Jamaican-influenced style to a more modern one, with loud, pounding synth beats and echoing voices. His album features well-known names like T.I., Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Yo Gotti, Busta Rhymes, and 2Chainz.

You can give Kingston points for his catchy beats, easy-to-follow lyrics, and guitar riffs in the middle of certain songs such as Bomba. The whole album has a very upbeat, high school dance feel to it, most exemplified in the first song in the album Back 2 Life. If you ask me, Kingston really doesn’t need to be brought “Back 2 Life,” he seems to know exactly what makes the dough in modern music, even after his four year hiatus from music making.
