Bill Beckett, Class of ’64

Q: Did you enjoy attending San Dieguito?

Beckett: I did. High school was my favorite time.

Q: How has San Dieguito changed since you were a student here?

Beckett: Well, this is the first time I’ve been back… Obviously, the campus has changed and the buildings… and I’m sure the academy is a little tougher than it was when I was attending San Dieguito.

Q: Why did you decide to visit today?

Beckett: I’m here for Tom Dempsey’s induction to the Hall of Fame.

Q: What clubs were you a part of? Extracurriculars?

Beckett: I was involved in sports [and played] basketball, football. We did [something where] football players got up on stage and did a song. ‘Sweetheart of Sigma Pi,’I think it was. It’s what we sang up there.

Q: What were some of your most memorable memories here?

Beckett: Just sports memories. Guys I played football with and basketball with I’m still friends with today. I had a lot of good memories here, a lot of good memories. I wasn’t a very good student, but I really enjoyed my time here.
