“Sense and Sensibility” comes to SDA

January 8, 2019

Starting January 10th, SDA’s Advanced Drama Honors class will be performing their own rendition of Sense and Sensibility, originally a novel, adapted as a play by Kate Hamill. The show will be January 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th, and 19th at 7pm in SDA’s home theatre.

The show follows the main characters, Marianne and Elinor, in 1800’s England navigating their lives after they lose their father. After this, they are forced to move to the countryside where they encounter all types of relationships that happen to get entangled with each other. SDA, however, has taken the classic by Jane Austen and added humor, wit, and their own twists.

Tatum Goodbody, junior, who plays Margret, the main character’s sister, believes people will love this play because, “it’s something we haven’t done before, basically a whole new fresh take.”

Other cast member Charis Hagen, junior, who plays Mrs. Dashwood, the main character’s mother, says that, “this play is fun because it’s based off a classic, but is revised to have comedic parts that make fun twists.”

Tickets are $8 for students and $15 for adults and will be available to buy from at the front of the PAC at lunch or at All performances open at 6:30 pm and start 7:00 pm at SDA’s Clayton E. Liggett Theatre.
