People have said that the MCU has been falling apart since Avengers: Endgame, and while I can agree with that, there still has been some great content come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Loki and WandaVision TV shows were entertaining and it felt like real work went into the writing and direction. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Thunderbolts* are all well-written movies and probably their best works since Endgame. It felt like more attention and work went into these movies compared to not well written movies like Eternals and Thor: Love and Thunder. Guardians 3, for example, had more emotional impact than previous movies. While some of their work after Endgame isn’t that great, viewers shouldn’t lose hope in the MCU. 

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being released on July 31, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned. It also has been confirmed that actress Sadie Sink will be making an appearance. 

The movie is set to feature an exciting villain lineup, including confirmed appearances from Scorpion (Michael Mando) and Tombstone (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III).  There are many roles that people have been speculating about who Sink could be playing, like Rachel Summers, Jean Gray, Gwen Stacy, Mayday Parker, or one of the villains, but Marvel hasn’t confirmed who she will be playing yet, but hopefully her character is more well-written than other new characters. Since End Game, many of the newer movies lack the same excitement, with uninteresting casting boring character choices. 

Another MCU movie being released later this year is Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to be released on December 18. Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU to play the villain Doctor Doom. Downey Jr. is not my first choice for this role, but I am still excited to see him onscreen again. 

There have also been four trailers featuring characters who are returning. So far it has been confirmed that Chris Evans is returning to play Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, all of the original X-Men, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and the Fantastic Four cast, who were recently featured in a new movie.

Each recent trailer focuses on a different character that’s returning. The first trailer we got focuses on Steve Rogers and shows him arriving home on a motorcycle, packing away his Captain America uniform, and holding a baby. The second trailer focuses on Thor walking through the woods and praying to be reunited with his daughter, Love. The third trailer focuses on the X-Mansion, featuring voiceovers from Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and shots of Cyclops (James Marsden) using his powers. The fourth trailer focuses on the Wakandans encountering the Fantastic Four’s The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). It features Shuri discussing losses, a tense meeting between Namor and the heroes. 

I’m trying to prepare myself for at least one character death, because usually someone dies. Overall, there are still a lot of unknowns, but I am extremely excited for all of these upcoming movies.
