Homeroom Olympics Preview

Homeroom Olympics are rolling into gear this year with some exciting new additions. The games have already begun following the scavenger hunt several weeks earlier, so homerooms are getting ready to fight for the title. The next mission is set for Feb. 3, where classes will meet on the track for an improved relay race after last year’s mishaps. According to Assistant Principal Jeanne Jones, this race will be run in “legs” with a different task for each section.

Students of the Homeroom Olympics Committee have created a set of new events, thinking out of the box to spice things up. All of the original games, such as dodge ball and arm wrestling will be held as usual; however, classes will now be guessing objects and preforming in music videos to compete.

Mystery Box is one of many new events. Dr. Jones described it as a sort of blind guessing game, where participates will have to stick their arms into a closed off box and figure out what’s inside. Other games are just revised versions of classics. Xtreme Musical Chairs takes the usual fight for a seat and adds a scavenger hunt element to the mix: students will have to search for items before they can take a seat. Homeroom Family Feud, on the other hand, mimics the show in pairing classes against each other to see who knows the most about each other.

The games will end this year on June 2, with an anticipated surprise finale. Until then, schedules and important information should be made available soon. Be ready for the next event, and may the best homeroom win.
