Mustangs everywhere have cause to be proud today as San Dieguito’s own, Spanish teacher Sheryl Bode, finished the 119th Boston Marathon today with a time of 4 hours 2 minutes and 1 second. Bode came in 19,206th place overall and 1,168th in her division, participating with over 30,000 other runners.

This year’s Boston Marathon started with a moment of silence to honor those killed and injured by the terrorist attacks which took place two years ago. The overall winner was Ethiopian Lelisa Desisa with a time of 2 hours 9 minutes and 17 seconds. Desisa last won the Boston Marathon two years ago, before two bomb detonated at the finish lines hours later. Meanwhile the women’s elite division was won by Kenyan Caroline Rotich with a time of 2 hours 24 minutes and 55 seconds. Last year’s winner, American Meb Keflezighi, came in eighth place overall.
