Encinitas Art Festival

The Encinitas Art Festival attracted artists to the San Dieguito Academy campus Sunday afternoon on March 13. Dozens of booths, such as a visual arts table and a pottery wheel, were scattered about the campus, showcasing various local artists in the San Dieguito area.

Brightly colored canvases could be seen at every turn, laughter flowing about the air. Students were pleased to see their campus as a bustling center of art, “There was a lot of people from outside SDA. There were little kids and parents and a couple of smaller kids who came that weren’t a part of our school.” said junior Tara Caulfield.

Everyone basked in our community’s creativity, observing art ranging from homemade jewelry to sculptures of computer parts. Junior Magdalena Keefe said, “I saw a guy that was whittling, doing stuff with wood. He was making figurines and canes, it was really cool.”

All in all, this year’s art festival was considered a very successful event for our school’s art program, with the Art Club’s earnings totaling over $100.
