In light of Green Week, we asked what students around the SDA campus would do to save the world. In response, many students had creative and silly ideas, while others talked about what they already do to take care of our planet.

“I don’t know if you can save earth from global warming. I will do my own part and hope other people will do that as well.” – Katrina Olsen Junior

“Stop pooping so much.” – Senior Dunacan Macphee

“Never ask for a receipt again.” – Junior Trevor LaPlante

“Create a way to deliver clean drinking water to all.” – Senior Lindsey Rowland

“I would start some sort of recycling program that would motivate people to think about what they can do to preserve nature.” – Sophomore Rachel Colbath

“To save the world, I would want to stop war and overall promote world peace.” – Freshman Lindsey King

“I would save the world by making everyone happy by giving every person a puppy and In-N-Out….because that would just be really cool.” – Sophomore Maddie Biehl

“I recycle and print my homework on scratch paper.” – Junior Madeleine Karydes

“I was going to do great things and celebrate Earth Week, but I drove my jeep to school.” – Senior Clayton Bishop

“I planted my baby cactus in my yard.” – Senior Marc Vela

“I would clean up all the trash so I could save all the penguins from having their necks choked by the plastic soda holders. Yes, I would definitely save the penguins.” – Sophomore Elisa Barrett

“I would make sure that every person rides their bike instead of driving their cars to school or that if they do drive, that they at least carpool. This way there would be less exhaust in the world.” –Sophomore Jaycelin Bert

“I would shut down all the big companies and factories like Monsanto that are mass producing genetically modified foods. Also, I would start trying [to] plant more organic produce farms.” – Sophomore Jack Van Cleaf

“Well, I would make sure that I shut off all the lights when I can and take shorter showers.” – Freshman Marcella Zizzo

“To help the world, I would plant an apple tree, eat some of the apples, and sell the rest of the apples. I would donate the money to a pro-Earth organization. Then I would cut the tree down and use it to make fliers. The fliers  would say ‘save the trees’ then I would recycle that paper and make those pencils that say ‘made from recycled paper.’” – Freshman Alec Maskiewicz

“I would try to recycle more and stress the importance of taking care of our Earth. Also, eating mean people who do bad things to our earth should be a priority to everyone.” – Freshman Brooke Russell

“I celebrated Earth Day by being more active about recycling and doing a beach cleanup.” – Junior Joey Levin
