Chargers Column: The Playoffs

From the beginning of the season to now, the Chargers have undergone drastic change. The first half of the season, they relied mostly on quarterback Phillip Rivers and the passing game to get the job done.

But the last five games of their season, they took a different stand, giving the running game the majority of the plays. Ryan Mathews, running back for the Chargers, had an average of 100 yards per game the last five weeks. This has definitely given San Diego an advantage over their opponents, as they were often expecting the pass.

As for the playoffs, the Chargers looked great on both sides of the ball in their first win over Cincinnati on Jan. 5. Now it’s up to their new offensive strategy to create a stampede over the Denver Broncos in the divisional playoffs this Sunday.
