SDA Surf Team Competes in First Contest of the Season

Competing under Division I and II, SDA ’s surf team had their first contest of the year at Oceanside Harbor, Sunday. The Mustangs placed fifth out of six teams in Division I and fifth out of five in Division II.

“The competition as a whole did super good definitely better than last year,” said senior Shannon Wylot .“We crushed point Loma and did super good.”

An exceptional individual performance by junior Koby Hughes gave San Dieguito’s team results a boost. Hughes placed first in men’s short board out of six competitors. On women’s shortboard, was Ella McCaffray (home schooled) and sophomore Sophia McGovern who placed third and fifth respectively. Representing SDA during the coed body board competition, was freshman Isaiah Dasher who earned third place.

The Mustangs will hit the beach again on November 4th to compete at Avalanche, Ocean Beach.
