A lot has been changing recently in world football, but one thing has remained a comforting constant in an increasingly turbulent sport. In early 2026, the English Premier League continues to deliver arguably the highest level of European football while offering fantastic entertainment for all fans of “the beautiful game.”
With only the last 10 games left to play, all followers of the “Prem” are looking eagerly to the top three teams in the league standings to make a prediction about who will stand triumphant in the end. Pressure mounts and margins get thinner, although one team at the top is receiving all the attention.
London based club, Arsenal, have been sporting their signature dark red in the top flight of English football for an entire century and since 1919 have become a household name globally. During their time at the top they clutched 13 league trophies and have built up an illustrious reputation as one of Europe’s finest football clubs.
Now, loyal followers of the London Club have waited a grueling 21 years for Arsenal to win the Premier League once again. In recent seasons though, the Gunners seemed to be missing what it takes to come out on top. To the frustration of nearly all fans sporting red, Arsenal have traded their feared reputation in the league for a shameful reputation as “bottlejobs” after settling for second place three consecutive times in the most recent Premier League seasons. It seems as though every year that Arsenal “bottle” the league more pressure and more attention mounts on the back of the football club.
This pressure and attention has come to a peak in early 2026, with Arsenal finally looking like the strongest team in world football after years of mediocrity. This year something about the Gunners is different. After a highly productive transfer window, head coach, Mikel Arteta, has instilled a level of skill and physicality in Arsenal’s squad that is unmatched by any of their European competition. This season, the team simply seem to be much more assured that they will finally reinstate their Premier League dynasty and even lift that long awaited European Trophy. The Gunners are on track to do just that.
In the Prem this season, Arsenal have an extremely impressive record only having lost three games of the 28 they’ve played. In the Champions League, where they were once lackluster, they are even more dominant, having won every single game they’ve played.
Arsenal’s prowess and their potential to win it all this season is undeniable but, with the premier league approaching its final 10 games, a lot of questions are being asked of the London club by nervous fans and scheming challengers.
These questions come after the red hot form of the Gunners has seemed to cool a bit. Recently the club is building a concerning habit of dropping points to teams like Brentford and Wolves. Their stagnation in the last couple games comes at the frustration of a fanbase that has been so often disappointed in the past.
Also to the concern of many followers of the club is the impressive performance of direct league rivals Manchester City. The Football club hailing from the North of England have been Arsenal’s perpetual boogeyman in the past, snatching gold 6 times in the last 8 seasons often to the expense of the Gunners. It is not ridiculous to assume that there are some Arsenal fans right now that are getting increasingly nervous at the thought of another triumphant City side, whose form has only gotten better in recent weeks.
All in all, though Arsenal are still undoubtedly the best team in European football, as of yet, pressure is mounting from all sides and closing in on the team sporting dark red. The suffocating pressures surrounding the club today might just be conjuring up a perfect storm for the Cannons to misfire and for Arsenal to “bottle” the premier league for the fourth time in four seasons.
