Students gathered in speedos and matching outfits for the “synchronized swimming without water” Homeroom Olympics event Tuesday. The event, which was organized by the Homeroom Olympics Committee, attracted a crowd of students around the outdoor PAC stage.

Six homerooms participated, including the four leading homerooms of teachers Angela Vasquez-Herrera, Stephanie Siers, Rie Tsuboi and Kerri Leonard.

“I think it went really well,” said junior Homeroom Olympics Committee member Ava Lilie. “There was a huge audience turnout and a lot of homerooms participating… The routines were well prepared and most homerooms had matching costumes, which was super fun.”

Duck’s homeroom had arguably the most aggressive costumes, as their “swimmers” dressed in speedos. Other homerooms went a simpler route, with Siers’s group dressing in colorful coats and Vasquez-Herrera’s group in jeans and white t-shirts.

“The whole committee was laughing the whole time,” Lilie said. “It was a super memorable event.”
