Band teacher Jeremy Wuertz conducts the school band for the winter assembly.

SDA’s orchestra band kicked off the 2014 Winter Assembly with some music, right before two Stang Gang MCs came out to get the crowd excited for assembly activities.

Next the MCs introduced San Dieguito teachers James Hrzina  and Oly Norris, and the two teachers shared some of the SDA sports news, mainly about the girls basketball  team and the  new field.

After the sports  debrief, SDA was honored with a live performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” from junior Jamisyn Atlas

The singing of the National Anthem led to Herzina and Norris bantering about singing and the two introducing a student interview video with the question, “Board and Brew vs. Sub-man?” In the end, Sub-man was the choice by  most student interviewees.

The video switched from student interviews to a Comedy Sports promotional ad, featuring plenty of puns.

The video finished as a custodial staff appreciation, including students and staff thanking SDA’S custodians for their service.

After the video clips, Assistant Principal Jeanie Jones thanked the ASB cabinet of 2013 and introduced the new 2014 ASB board.

Next, Hrzina  and Norris introduced and explained a variation of musical chairs with beach balls and blindfolds. The winner of the tournament,  senior Powers Berry, won a free ticket to the Winter Formal.

During the intense competition, a large box with question marks on the sides was rolled out, turning out to be an elaborate Formal ask.

The Formal ask led into an instructional video for boys on how to get asked to Formal by a girl, which invoked plenty of laughs

Then was the Third Annual Homeroom Olympic Opening Ceremonies, during which the winning homeroom of 2013 was congratulated.

After the final video highlighting the SDA Winter Sports, the Orchestra Band finished off the assembly with some music.
