No Toilet Paper? No Meat? This and More at the Forum

At the Forum meeting during lunch on Friday, several students brought to the attention of the Forum the fact that the girls bathrooms on campus always runs out of supplies by the afternoon. Hosted by senior Nate Neumann and junior Blake Stoner-Osborne in room 61, the meeting was attended by students and faculty members, and a range of topics regarding the school were discussed.
Many of the female students in attendance voiced their frustrations with the issue of shortages of bathroom supplies. The solution of keeping toilet paper and towels in a place where students could replenish them themselves was considered, but Principal Bjorn Paige said that the fact that it could be a fire hazard caused him to be hesitant about it.
Students discussed the construction that began over Thanksgiving break, and Paige gave an update on what more would take place going forward. The possibility of painting arrows on the ground to direct the flow of traffic in certain areas of the school, such as the new walkways, was considered.
One student suggested that SDA food services implement a ‘meatless Monday,’ where all the food sold in the Mosaic Café on Monday would be vegetarian. Students seemed open to the idea, and discussed various ways to put this in place.
Near the end of the meeting, history teacher Kerry Koda asked if there was student interest in a possible after-school extracurricular class on mindfulness. The class would incorporate philosophy and psychology, and would be similar to the after school classes offered last year that were sponsored by the SDA Foundation.
The last topic discussed was how the SDA Bazaar yesterday at lunch went, and how to prepare for Exhibition Day in May. As Senior Court will not be available during Exhibition Day this year, alternate areas to set up booths were brainstormed, including on the grass next to the 20s buildings and the courtyard next to the teens buildings.
