Mustang Month of March to Take Place of Manly Month of March

By Brittany Serbin, Staff Writer

Starting this year, Manly Month of March will be changed to Mustang Month of March, in order to promote school spirit and provide activities to make the long stretch of school from now until spring break a little more bearable.

According to ASB member senior Chloe Williams, the change was introduced because many students felt that there was too much focus on being manly during a month that is nationally recognized as Women’s History Month. Instead, they advocated for activities that were more inclusive of everyone and brought people together.

Although the details haven’t been completely worked out, there are several events in the works for Mustang Month of March. There will be activities such as Spirit Week and Ultimate Frisbee, and ASB is looking into getting bands to play during lunch.

SDA traditions, such as Senior Out and Locks of Love will still be happening throughout the month, and the no shaving challenge previously present in Manly Month of March will be moved to No Shave November, which is recognized as an effort to raise awareness for prostate cancer.

It is very likely that Mustang Month of March will continue next year, according to Williams, and anyone with ideas or thoughts for activities is welcome to share them with ASB in room 70.
