Students donned their best Hawaiian shirts for “Tiki Tuesday,” the second day of this year’s spring Spirit Week. The week kicked off with “Mismatch Monday” and t will continue to feature fun themes such as “What Color is the Dress Wednesday,” “Bed Head/Pajama Thursday,” and “Tie-Dye Friday.”

Each day, SDA students can bring their own unique style and showcase their school spirit.

“Spirit week really makes school less school-like and more of just a fun place to be because in the midst of tests and studying,” said Vivian Vaucher, who played a key role in developing the schedule .

Vaucher also explained why she thinks Spirit Week can be very important to the welcoming culture of SDA. “I think it really shows how lively and diverse the culture at SDA is when everyone is wearing wild outfits that they got to think of themselves,” she said. ”People have so many different ideas.”

Each day brings a new theme which should make it a great week to see all the creativity that the students at SDA will display.

Some SDA students weighed in on what day they were looking forward to the most this week.

Senior Corin Luckhardt said, “I’m mostly excited for tie dye Friday because when I was younger I would always tie dye shirts. Over the years, I started to have more and more, so this Friday, I’ll wear one of my favorites.” “Pajama day!” said senior Maddy Fournier. “I will be wearing either leggings or my Iowa plaid PJ pants.”

Senior Alex Smith said, “Pajama day because no effort is needed.”

Senior Jared Holguin also said he was excited for Pajama Thursday, “I’m going to be able to sleep in longer and not worry as much about getting changed for school. Plus I’ll be super comfy.”
